Our Resolve is to Cooperate with Customs to Ensure Friendly Port System, Says NAGAFF President
By Francis Ugwoke
The National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Tochukwu Ezeisi, has said that the association was ready to cooperate with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to achieve a friendly port where smooth trade thrives.
In this regard, Ezeisi said his association will synergize with the Customs to ensure the achievement of its laudable mandate towards the creation of a business friendly port system where facilitation of legitimate trade shall be the watchword.
Speaking on the occasion of the
23rd Anniversary lecture organized by the NAGAFF in Lagos, he said NAGAFF has continued to explore all avenues for “dialogue, negotiation, stakeholders engagements and interactions in seeking mediation and resolution of attendant conflicts”.
He added, “I must say these conscious peaceful approaches of troubleshooting mechanism laid down by our founding fathers has been entrenched and internalized by NAGAFF leadership under my watch”.
He added that NAGAFF will also continue to deploy its advocacy tools towards partnering with the NCS to ensure that the Nigeria Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) 1958 Amendment Bill sees the light of the day to the glory of God.
He appealed to the government to always carry critical stakeholders along in policy formulation in order to achieve the desired result at the implementation level.
The NAGAFF President pointed out the pioneering and dogged role of the visionary founder of NAGAFF and members of the NAGAFF High Command in the historic establishment of the CRFFN through Act 16, 2007 by the National Assembly.
“This singular achievement of NAGAFF will forever remain an indelibly great landmark in the chequered history of freight forwarding and logistics management in Nigeria”, he said.
He added, “These great testimonies of achievement remain veritable sources of our pride and strength of our great Association as well as strong motivation for us to work harder for the general good of our industry and the economic development of Nigeria to the glory of God.
“NAGAF shall continue to lead the way by bringing new ideas and innovation into the system. We shall continue to embrace the new and evolving digital technology, maintain and improve new values, standards, ethics and professional ethos of the industry”.
