Customs Zone A Operatives Foil Smuggling of 3 Live Pangolins
Operatives of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ikeja, Lagos, have seized three live pangolins at Igbo- Ora in Ogun State.
The Customs Unit said the seizure was made Monday at about 0905hrs, by its operatives following credible intelligence gathering.
Acting Comptroller of the Unit, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, represented by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Enforcement Oluwaseun Oguntuase, said the endangered animals were concealed in a wire mesh cage.
He disclosed that the smugglers on noticing the presence of the Customs operatives abandoned the wildlife and fled to avoid arrest.

The Controller commended the operatives for their vigilance, stating that the efforts of the officers underscored the Unit’s resolve to ensure that the country’s biodiversity is protected.
