Appointment: Maritime Editors Congratulate Adeniyi on Tenure Extension

The League of Maritime Editors has congratulated the Comptroller – General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, on the recent extension of his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement signed by its President, Mrs Remi Itie and Secretary, Felix Kumuyi, the League noted that it identifies with Dr. Adeniyi’s uncommon leadership and capacity to achieve more for the country and the Nigeria Customs Service.
The Editors emphasized that the areas of focus clearly outlined by Mr. President as the primary reasons for the extension are well within the competence of the Comptroller-General, and expressed confidence that he will continue to deliver on them.
The League further pledged its support for Dr. Adeniyi in his renewed mandate, affirming that his stewardship will bring greater achievements to the Service and the nation.
Adeniyi whose tenure was due to expire in August this year, will now remain in office till February, 2027.
The tenure extension was contained in a press statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga
The statement explained that President Tinubu approved the extension to enable Adeniyi complete key reforms started in the Customs Service since assuming office in 2023.
The statement also added that the extension will “enable him to consolidate the implementation of the National Single Window and ensure an orderly succession in the service.”
