Why We Believe in National Single Window for Our Ports, by NSC CEO, Akutah

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Pius Akutah, has said that the planned National Single Window (NSW) in the nation’s ports remains the way forward for the desired ports efficiency.
Akutah said that the NSW will be a major tool in facilitating trade in the country, adding that once deployed, it will go a long way in impacting significantly in transparency in the ports system.
Speaking on the occasion of a meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on Shipping Services and Related Matters held recently, the NSC CEO said the NSW will check operational challenges that have existed as a resulted of the presence of multiple agencies of government working at the ports.
He said the NSW will create synergy among all the agencies, stating that there will be collaboration in port processes into a unified digital system.
Akutah said during the meeting that his Council as the Ports Economic Regulator believes so much in achieving efficiency, pointing out that it has made impactful contributions in restoring order and improving operational standards in the ports.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, had during the meeting called for continued stakeholders engagement as far as NSW is concerned to ensure more inclusiveness.
He explained that this was because the issue of NSW is very significant to the national economy.
