PTML Customs Controller, Anani, Announces ₦350.3bn Revenue Generation in 9Months

The Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service in Lagos has announced a revenue generation of N350.3bn between January and September.

The Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Joe Anani, who briefed newsmen on Friday said the amount is 96.64% and close to ₦362,521,085,250.98 collected by the Command from January to December, last year.
Anani said that the Command collected a total sum of ₦116,243,603,670.58 revenue, which is 34.3 percent higher than the ₦86,584,012,733.43 that was collected in the third quarter of 2024.
He added that so far, comparative analysis in the last quarter showed that the Command has been maintaining a steady rise in revenue collection.
He said that this was despite the teething challenges of the B’Odogwu platform which is being overcome.
He further disclosed that the Command intercepted 1X20FT container with marks and number GCNU1275880 whose importer had falsely declared as supermarket items.
He stated that this false declaration was discovered when officers carried out 100% examination and found the items to be pharmaceuticals.
Items found in the two containers of unregistered pharmaceuticals, according to him, include made in Taiwan Airsoft pistol, Two (2) magazines and 12 rounds of live ammunitions.
On the 1x40ft container with marks and number ACLU9806850 falsely declared as magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, he disclosed that during examination 6,262 cartons of antibiotics of various brands were found.
Anani described the customs community relationship with sister government agencies and other stakeholders based on CGC’s directive as very robust, saying it has helped in boosting trade facilitation.
The Command handed over the seized containers to the Director of Port Inspection Directorate of NAFDAC¸ , Dr Olakunle Olaniran.
He said, “Our anti-smuggling and enforcement drives remain intact without compromise. As a command, we are not compromising national security on the altar of trade facilitation.
“I have visited various agencies of government and received them in my office on similar visits where we renewed our resolve for regular cooperation, inter agency collaboration, intelligence sharing and crime prevention strategies.
“I want to thank our stakeholders and urge them once again to stay on the path of obedience to the law. Compliance saves time, saves money and helps in building a reputation for business growth towards migration into the AEO status.”
Olaniran commended the Customs Command for such life saving enforcement drive, stating that the Memorandum of Understanding with the Customs is working.
He urged Nigerians to only patronize only registered pharmaceutical vendors for safety reason.
