NSC CEO, Dr. Akutah, Honoured with NUJ Media Supporter Award

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) last weekend recognized a number of Nigerians for their various contributions in different fields of the national economy.
Among those recognized was the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, during the Union’s 70th anniversary celebration.
Akutah was honoured with The Media Supporter Award, apparently for his support for the media.
Specifically, Akutah was recognized because of what the Union described as ‘unwavering support for press freedom and the media profession’.
The event which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Conference Centre, Abuja, on June 21, 2025, attracted notable personalities from the National Assembly, Executive arm of the Government, Heads of agencies and Media practitioners.
The Union during the event launched Shu’aibu Leman’s book, “The Bleeding Ink,” a chronicle of the perilous journey of journalists in Nigeria from 1973 to 2025.
