Members of the National Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) are currently in donation mood to give the association everything it needs.
This is coming with the ongoing project of the association to construct a N500m worth headquarters in Lagos.
Among the donors is the President of the association, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, who gave a N40m bus.
Similarly, other members, including the Deputy National President, Dr. Segun Musa, who donated 50 chairs and 15 tables as part of the efforts to refurnish the headquarters of the association in Apapa, Lagos.
The idea for the donation of the chair, according to the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Dr Clement Iwegbuna, in a statement, is to “beef up the number of chairs and tables at the Nagaff hqrs”
According to the association, the increasing number of young freight forwarders flocking at nagaff hqrs demands an immediate intervention.
“Membership of nagaff nationwide is crossing five thousands at the western zone alone. This shall include but not limited to Lagos state, Ogun state, Oyo state, Ondo state and Kogi state”, he said.
The statement also said another nagaff stakeholder, Chief Amuluonyenago Abateghetehas undertaken to restructure and rebuild the two public toilets at the nagaff hqrs to standard .
The statement reads:
“Whereas the deputy national president seaports took the responsibility to fuel and provide a part time driver to take charge of the new bus donated by Mr President for one year, Princess Chi Eze is arranging and sponsoring an all night party to celebrate and appreciate Mr president for a N40m bus donated for use at nagaff hqrs
“This development is raising the bar of greater things coming up in the life of nagaff as the biggest freight forwarding association in Nigeria, it is on record that CRFFN has confirmed that nagaff is the leading freight forwarding association in Nigeria in terms of number of practitioners, education, knowledge and skills in the business of freight forwarding and logistics business
“However it is important that we remind the big boys and girls in nagaff that there is still a lot ahead to be done, the 500m naira national secretariat is task that must be done
“We shall continue to thank and appreciate our good friend and brother, late Dikko Inde, the comptroller General of Customs who helped our sister association, the association of Nigeria licensed customs agents in building their national secretariat and onne zonal office
“It is most unfortunate that when it became his will to assist nagaff, an untimely death occurred. It is our hope that the seating comptroller General of Customs under corporate responsibility shall conclude the good work of which his predecessor started
“Nagaff is a non profit making organisation and it is our hope that the Nigeria ports Authority, NIMASA , NAFDAC , NIGERIA SHIPPERS COUNCIL AND STANDARDS ORGANISATION etc must start to add value in our port development
“Nagaff and it’s members are the major facilitators to the high level customs duty collection, noting that we are strategically positioned as the artery of the gate ways imports and export transactions in the customs ports and borders”
