How Pressure Forced FG to Lift Suspension on SIM Cards’ Replacement

The suspension placed on SIM cards replacement has been lifted by the federal government.
The decision to lift the suspension followed pressure from subscribers as many experienced difficulty in registering the mandatory National Identification Number (NIN) which government insisted must be linked with the mobile phone numbers.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami announced the decision to lift the suspension on Wednesday during a stakeholders meeting.
With the directive, those who have valid NINs can now retrieve and activate old SIM cards.
The fate of those who want to buy new SIM cards is however unclear until a new government directive is released.
