Customs FOU Zone A Intercepts ₦562.5m Worth of Crystal Methamphetamine, Arrests Suspect

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, has intercepted 25 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine along Gbaji- Seme road, Lagos.

The operatives of the Service also arrested the suspected identified as one Nduak Monday.

This was disclosed by the Controller of the Unit, Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, during a handing over ceremony of the items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos.

Shuaibu said that the interception took place on October 17, when the suspect was found with a nylon bag tightly wrapped with sellotape.

The Controller put the street value of the drug at ₦562,500,000 .

He said that “the seizure underscores the unit unwavering commitment to combating smuggling in all its forms and highlights the importance of robust inter-agency collaboration.”
The Commander of Narcotics, Lagos State Strategic Command, of the NDLEA, CN Abubakar Liman, who received the seized drugs.

He also disclosed that the seized substance had commended the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Service in the war against drug trafficking.

According to him, “The contributions of the NCS in the ongoing war against drugs trafficking are remarkable.

“We will continue to update the unit as the trial of the suspect progresses in court.”
Liman also commended the Unit “for deepening the realization of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two agencies.”
