Nigeria’s Oil Production Falls to 82,644bpd in January
Nigeria’s crude oil production went down by 82,644 barrels per day (bd) in the month of January, according to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
Sources close to the Ministry said the crude oil production as at December 2018 was 2,081,936 bpd as against 1,999,292 bpd in the month of January this year.
However, this is being attributed to the voluntary production cuts agreement among member countries of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Nigeria, a source said is trying to keep to the agreement which OPEC reached with non-members, including Russia as a way of putting a check on the prices of oil.
However, our sources said the fall in production could be as a result of the shutdown of Bonny export terminal as a result of leakages and flooding at waterside areas in Brass, Agbami and Qua Iboe.
