There are strong indications that the former Governor of Anambra State may be running for the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the New Nigeria peoples party (NNPP).
Obi who resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday may run under the NNPP with Rabiu Kwankwaso who has been one of the strongest arrow-heads in the party for the 2023 presidential election.
Although the arrangement has remained unclear, sources said Obi and Kwakwanso may be teaming up to wrestle power from the All Progressives Alliance (APC).
According to a source, the two believe that the arrangement is simply ‘a rescue mission’ to save the country from varying economic and security crisis being suffered over the years.
The NNPP is now being positioned as probably the ‘third force’ which many believe would emerge to rescue Nigeria.
The membership of NNPP has continued to deepen in the past few months since Kwankwaso joined the fold with youths forming a strong base throughout the North.
The party whose Chairman is Dr. Boniface Aniebonam is currently mobilizing for wide membership.
Following this, the membership has continued to swell in the Northern part of the country with Kwakwanso seen as a strong force who has been drawing members of both APC and PDD.
In Kebbi, hundreds of youths were reported to have joined the party from Gulumbe town , Birnin Kebbi local on Wednesday
Most of those who joined the party were from PDP and APC in the state.
