Okonjo-Iweala Tasks WTO Members on Current Global Challenges
The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has put members of the organization to task on global trade challenges
Okonjo-Iweala spoke as the WTO plans the 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) in Geneva, SWI between June 12 and 15 this year, adding that they should work hard to deliver substantive outcomes.
The WTO DG who spoke at a meeting in Geneva, said “What the world needs right now is a responsive WTO, one that helps us meet the many challenges of our time and delivers on the aspirations of the people we serve.”
She said that since theb Ministerial Conference has not been held since late 2017, the preparatory work must be a success of an MC12 that has been in the making for nearly five years.
According to her, “This is our responsibility and I hope we can all act accordingly.”
