Navy’s New Warship Leaves UAE Today to Lagos
The Nigeria Navy has said that its new warship, NNS KADA, is expected to leave Albwardy Damen Shipyard, Sharjah, UAE, today on her way to Lagos.
The Director of Naval Information, Commodore Ayo Vaughan, said NNS KADA will spend about 56 days covering a distance of 8,414.34 nautical miles before arriving Nigeria.
The ship is expected on May 27.
The statement from Vaughan reads, “It is also planned for the new ship to make stop overs in five countries/ports before arriving Lagos. These ports are Port Duqm in Oman, Port Mombasa in Kenya, Port Cape Town in South Africa, Port Luanda in Angola and Port Gentil in Gabon,” .
“This milestone venture progressed steadily with the keel laying ceremony of the ship conducted on 9 December 2019 at the Albwardy Damen Shipyard, Sharjah, UAE. Subsequently, the construction was completed and the new warship was launched on 7 June 2021.”
