Aniebonam Praises Ex-NAGAFF President, Nweke, for Withdrawing from CRFFN Election
*Condemns associations participating in election, yet calls for success of sharing formula
Founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has commended the former President of the association, Dr. Eugene Nweke, for withdrawing from the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) board election which comes up tomorrow.
Describing the decision as a wise counsel, Aniebonam in a whatsapp message said any member of registered associations participating in the election has made himself a “willing tool of self imposed slavery”.
He announced that Nweke had been pardoned after declaring him persona non grata last year for daring to participate in the CRFFN election as against the arrangement that NAGAFF had with other associations.
The pardon was not extended to Dr. Increase Uche, apparently because he is participating in the election.
Aneibonam described the breaches of CRFFN Act by the leadership and Ministry of Transportation as “ungodly”.
While blaming the Ministry, he however said it was the sister association, the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) that led freight forwarders to what he called “the present mess”.
Aniebonam however expressed optimism to “regain our council from the avoidable clutches of the transportation ministry over time from inception” by coming together to join politics.
Aniebonam however appealed to freight forwarders to still go out during the CRFFN election and vote for NAGAFF candidates and ensure that the sharing formula arrangement works as planned.
He explained that this was better since nobody can fight government by staying outside the system.
He called on all the associations to ensure that the 6-6-1.1.1. which is a sharing arrangement among the associations was actualized.
Aniebonam to join politics to be able to fight for their interest.
He said, “However there is hope for the future arising from the political successes of new NIGERIA peoples party. It is not a news any longer that nnpp is the political wing of nagaff and with the emergence of senator kwakwanso in our platform it is my belief that we are likely to have direct access to good governance 2023. I will therefore appeal to all practising freight forwarders to ensure that they register with INEC for the purposes of election 2023.
“ It is my belief that it is much easier for us to regain our council from the inside of the government than the present situation. The freight forwarders of Nigeria have suffered so much despite our meaningful contributions in the nations building. To achieve this objective we must come together as a people in one profession.
“ Let it be said that no body shall speak for us other than ourselves to take responsibility. And for those of you who have interest to contest election in your various states i want to let you know that nnpp is your platform to do so for the benefit of our profession and Nigeria in general. Having said all these i wish to advise and appeal to the leadership of nagaff, Anlca, AREFFN and naffac to work together and ensure the success of 6 6 1 1 1 concept as agreed upon by the consultative forum. The need for the president of nagaff, anlca, ncmdlca and NAFFAC to be in the drivers seat can not be overemphasised.
“Meanwhile i am working hard with senator kwakwanso to ensure compliance to our relevancy 2023 . And for Dr Eugene Nweke you have done well on matters of earned honour and respect for the industry practioners. Meanwhile i hereby direct all members of nagaff to go out in mass to vote all our members standing inn for the council election because it is better to engage the council administration from inside. It is also important that i inform nagaff voters that we have pardoned independent candidates of nagaff for their gross insubordination to the decision of nagaff vide 66111 formula. This has become necessary since the transportation ministry refused to respect the will of the registered associations of crffn. This decision to pardon is excluding the former president of nagaff Dr Increase uche”.
