Drug Abuse Increasing Banditry, Terrorism, NDLEA Chairman Tells Military Chiefs

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig Gen Mohammed Marwa(rtd), on Thursday told military chiefs that drug abuse in the country has been responsible for increasing banditry and terrorism in the country.
Marwa said the situation of drug abuse was such that many youths across the country now use illicit drugs.
He called on the military for a collaborative effort in checking drug abuse in the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Leo Irabor and Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, the NDLEA boss said there was a connection between insecurity and drug abuse.
He expressed the readiness of his agency to continue to combat drug abuse in the country.
Gen Irabor in his remarks commended the NDLEA leadership for the efforts in tackling drug abuse in the country.
He said partnership between the NDLEA and the military will go a long way in fighting drug abuse in the country.
