Jime Excited as Shippers’ Council Cooperative Society Hits N348m, Tasks New Exco for Growth
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Emmanuel Jime, has expressed excitement over the net worth of the Council’s Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society which is N384,493,251 .84.
Jime in a keynote address during the 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Election of the Society called on the new executive which is now led by Mr Aderemi Olaolu as President to work on improving the current net surplus left by the predecessor. Mallam Bashir Ambi Mohammed.
According to the Executive Secretary, the improved fund of the Society will no doubt enhance the fortunes of the members.
He said he was impressed with the unprecedented growth in the financial matrix of the past executive which revealed experienced growth in the year, expressing optimism that the situation could be better with committed leaders.
He said, “the outgoing executive deserves our commendation due to the marked increase in the fund of the Society and the Award it bagged from the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce , Industry and Cooperatives with respect to its transparency and hardwork.
“That was the first of its kind since the inception of the Cooperative over 20 years in the Council.That to me is an Award not only to the Cooperative but also the NSC .We hope and expect more awards from the new executive.’
The outgone President of the NSC Cooperative , Malam Bashir Ambi- Mohammed disclosed that on assuming office in 2017, his executive had inherited N30,442,770.89.
He said it was with cooperation from members of staff that the fund grew to the present level of N384,493,251.84.
The new President of the Cooperative Society, Mr Olaolu, who was the Treasurer in his acceptance speech promised to work hard to improve on the records of his predecessor.
Olaolu also commended the Executive Secretary of the for the support which led to the success of the AGM.
He also commended the past CEOS for all their efforts and contributions to make the Society grow.
