Shipping Day Online Rebrands, Introduces Magazine
Shipping Day Online which specializes in maritime and allied industry news has introduced a hardcopy magazine.
The concept of the magazine is to be part of the larger role of the media in nation building through information dissemination, agenda setting and advocacy as they affect the transport sector, particularly the shipping industry.
The magazine is a quarterly medium which will strive to promote truth and equity necessary for socio-economic development.
In a statement, the Editor-In-Chief, Mr. Francis Ugwoke, said the Magazine will dwell more on analyses, special reports , exclusive stories, general news and Glitteratti.
As the Editor-in-Chief and Editor of Shipping Day, Ugwoke has worked in a number of newspapers as a Reporter, Correspondent, Chief Correspondent, Group News Editor and Online Editor at different levels of his journalism career.
He has covered Labour, Politics, Crime, Finance, Communications, among others.
He covered Maritime for THISDAY Newspaper for over 12 years. Before then, he had worked with Daily Star, Satellite Newspapers and Daily Mail.
He joined THISDAY in February/March, 1995 as a Correspondent and rose to the positions of South East Regional Editor, Group News Editor and later Online Editor with the national tabloid.
He resigned voluntarily in October 2014 as Online Editor to start SHIPPING DAY Online.
Ugwoke who won the Best Maritime Reporter award in 1997 holds Advanced Diploma in Journalism and Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Times Journalism Institute (TJI) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) respectively.
He has attended many training programmes both locally and internationally for capacity building, including the St. Thomas University, Miami, Florida, USA.
He was Treasurer and later Vice President of Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN). Ugwoke, a co-author of a book titled “Maritime Under Democracy” published in 2002, was also Public Relations Officer of the League of Maritime Editors and Publishers before being elected as Secretary General.
Shipping Day is a publication of Sea Visions & Services Limited, a public relations consultancy firm.
