NRC Generates N1.08bn Revenue from Passengers in Q2
The Nigerian Railway Corporation has generated the sum of N1.08 bn revenue in the second quarter of the year.
The bulk of the revenue which was from passengers represents 237 percent year-on year increase in its revenue generation when compared with the figure of N320.3 million during the same period in 2020.
In the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, the breakdown showed that “a total of 565,385 passengers travelled via the rail system in Q2 2021 as against 108,238 passenger recorded in Q2’ 20”.
The report also showed that there were “424,460 passengers in the first quarter of the year representing 422 percent growth as against 33.20 percent QoQ”.
“Similarly, a total of 42,782 tons of volume of goods/cargo travelled via the rail system in Q2’21 as against 8,691 recorded in Q2’ 20 and 10,511 in Q1’21 representing 392 per cent growth YoY and 307 per cent QoQ respectively.”
The data also showed that revenue generated from cargo rose YoY by 8.0 percent to N71.6 million in Q2’21 as against N66.3 million in Q2’20
