Battle Axe Women Fete 100 Widows in Enugu
As part of activities to mark the 2021 celebration of motherhood, members of Battle Axe Women Fellowship International, BAWFI, have embarked on medical outreach in rural communities of Enugu State to render health care services to the indigent in the society.
The services they rendered through their team of medical doctors, nurses, lab scientists, physiotherapists included blood pressure check, eye test, sugar level test and laboratory diagnosis to identify tropical diseases for treatment.
President of the organization, Pastor Dr. Linda Oge Okoye who disclosed this yesterday while addressing Nigerian women and widows inside the Living Praise Worship Centre, Maryland, Enugu, to mark this year’s celebration of motherhood, said over 100 widows were feted, empowered and presented with gift items to ameliorate their problem. The theme for this year’s celebration is “women of Power”.
Dr. Okoye, former Dean, faculty of Dentistry in the University of Nigeria Nsukka, explained that they use the occasion of the motherhood day to draw global attention to the plight of widows and women generally in the world.
She made it clear that their mission statement hinged on raising and grooming women into greatness, as instruments of change in the society, adding that “every woman is a sharpened instrument in God’s hands”.
The BAWFI boss announced that the body would soon open ten additional prayer cell centres in different parts of South East Zone to bring women closer to God, nurture them to stardom and teach them different skills to generate income of their own.
Dr. Oge Okoye called on corporate Nigeria to assist the organization financially to enable it meet its mandate of touching on the lives of the needy.
