Crew Member Dies on Board as Container Ship Cabin Catches Fire
A container vessel, MSC Messina, on Monday suffered a fire incident.
FleetMon online reports that the incident led to the death of more than one crew.
The fire according to a social media post damanged most of the cabins.
The incident led to total blackout in the vessel and left the crew with no water on board except drinking water.
The report said “ there’s a total blackout, mostly (or all) Ukrainian crew have only dry ration kits and ready-meal food, there’s shortage of water or no water at all except drinking water. AIS is on, the ship as of 1230 UTC Jun 28 was entering Malacca Strait under tow of offshore tug TC VIGOUR (IMO 9443530)”.
