Ugwuanyi Reiterates Commitment to Youth Empowerment, as 1,500 Youths Attend Entrepreneurship Summit

The base event centre, Enugu, Wednesday was agog as over 1,500 young persons were hosted by renowned academic and entrepreneur, Ephraim Okenwa, at his annual employability and entrepreneurship summit.
The summit, which coincided with the launching of Okenwa’s book, Think Global, mentors young persons in different spheres of life, from ICT to Agriculture, Real Estate and Auto-mechanics among others.
Declaring the entrepreneurship summit open earlier, Enugu State Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi restated his commitment to youth development, stressing that his government would stop at nothing in investing on programs that would promote youth welfare.
Apart from awarding scholarship to several Enugu State indigenes studying at various educational institutions in Nigeria and outside the country, the state chief executive, disclosed that his administration since inception in 2015, had provided a conducive atmosphere for the youths of the state to grow.
Elated by the passion of young persons who gathered in the hall to make a statement and change society, Ugwuanyi, purchased the book being launched for all the participants at the sum of #2,500 each and promised to make out a day to sit down and listen to ideas from young persons to encourage entrepreneurship.
The speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Edward Ubosi, who spoke to the youths, chronicled his journey into politics.
He encouraged them to have a profession and engage in meaningful venture as a career outside politicking.
The speaker also charged them to stay away from cultism and other social vices. He lamented on how devilish it was to kill your fellow youth. Mr. Ubosi pointed out that aside physical killing, there is also the killing by using the pen, which according to him, was very common amongst young persons in the country.
Governor Ugwuanyi despite his crowded schedule, spent ample time with the youths inspiring and encouraging them to join hands and develop the state.
The youths couldn’t hold their joy as they requested and got the opportunity to take photo with the governor as they kept clapping in an uncommon fashion, depicting love, loyalty and admiration of his leadership style.
The event also attracted other government functionaries including the commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze and the commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Obi Karl Kama, represented by the special adviser on science, technology and innovation, Hon. Elvis Obi-Nkwankwo, the Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship Board Mr. Levi Uche Abonyi among others.
