We Shall Expose Saboteurs of E-call Up System for Trucks, Say NPA Officials
Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Governmemt Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has vowed to expose those working against the success of the e-call up system introduced by the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to check the Apapa gridlock.
The Union disclosed that it has already started investigation on the issue to reveal stakeholders working against the call-up system under which trucks are expected to remain at designated parks waiting to be called into the ports.
President NPA Branch of SSASCGOC, Comrade Abubakar Abdullahi who spoke during the capacity building programme of the Union in Ilorin Kwara state, commended the call up system as the best way to tackle the Apapa gridlock.
Abdullahi said his union was working in collaboration with the Maritime Workers’Union of Nigeria to check those behind the plans to scuttle the e-call-up system in the ports.
He said that the senior staff union was in support of the process and would work to support the NPA leadership under Hajia Bala Usman for sanity in the ports.
He said, “there are many groups and security agents in the road but there are many factors that contributed to the gridlock, we are not aportioning blames to anyone but the NPA MD has come out with a very good platform.
“If you look at the E-Call up system,it is working only that the evil ones are behind trying to make sure it does not work,to frustrate the efforts of NPA management.
“We at NPA SSASCGOC, Maritime, we would not fold our hands, we are working with our sister unions.
“We are doing everything possible to support our management and when we come out with it, everyone will know we are working”.
