A gang of robbers Thursday attacked a bullion van in Eti-Osa, Lagos, during which they made away with huge sums of money probably being conveyed to another branch.

It was gathered that the robbers had trailed the bullion van from a mall to a lonely area at Ado, Ajah in Eti-Osah local government area before opening fire on the vehicle.
The robbers, an eyewitness said, had aimed their gun shots at the tyres of the bullion van to immobilize it.
The source said that the driver and the policeman in the van were overpowered by the robbers who made away with the cash.
A commercial cyclist who was on his way was said to have been hit by a spray bullet from the firearms of the robbers.
According to the eye witness account there was no back-up policemen following the bullion van, a development that made it easy for the robbers to operate.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said nobody lost his life.
It would be recalled that there has been absence of policemen on the road since the EndSARS protest over three weeks now.
Many have been apprehensive over the absence of policemen on the road, an action that could be traced to the attack on police stations in many parts Lagos.
