The President of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Iju Tony Nwabunike has denied supporting any of the two members of the association, Chief Henry Njoku and Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha who are fighting over who is the authentic Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT of ANLCA.
The was as the Western Zone of the Association said Monday it recognizes Mr Emenike Nwokeoji as the President of ANLCA.
Nwabunike said Monday he had instead made underground moves to reconcile the two feuding members without success, adding that efforts were still on to resolve the issues.
Appealing to aggrieved members to shield their sword of war in the association, Nwabunike said the National Executive Committee (NEC) will address the issue during its planned meeting in Abuja, December 17.
He said that there is no way he would wish that both Njoku and Mustapha continue in the fight against one another on who is the authentic chairman of the Board of ANLCA, stating that his executive inherited the problem.
He appealed to peace loving members to join hands in addressing the crisis afflicting ANLCA by being part of the planned western chapters election which date will announced after the NEC meeting.
The election is for six chapters in the western zone, including Apapa Port, Seme border, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), PTML Terminal and Muritala Muhammed Airport Chapters.
Beyond the NEC meeting, SHIPPING DAY gathered that elders of the association are also reaching out to one another to ensure that the crisis in ANLCA does not escalate.
. However, in a press statement, the Coordinator of the Western zone of the association, Sir John Ofobike and it’s Secretary Alhaji Bayo Oyekangun said members of the association in western zone now recognize Mr Emenike Nwokeoji as President.
Nwokeoji contested with Nwabunike but lost.
Part of the statement reads: “Sequel to the deliberate and persistent refusal by Mr. Tony Iju Nwabunike and some NECOM members of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to give peace a chance in the Board of Trustees as ably led by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, we the members of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents in the Western Zone hereby resolve as follows: “We would like to state categorically clear that membership of this great association in the Western Zone is not in any way constituted based on any tribal sentiment. Irrespective of our cultural and religious backgrounds, we remain committed to one indivisible united family with our brothers and sisters in the Eastern Zone.
” In view of the recent media declaration by Mr Tony Iju Nwabunike on the Board of Trustees issue, we hereby resolve and declare that we shall no longer recognize him as the President of ANLCA until the final determination of the case filed against him challenging his purported victory in the last NECOM election.
” Mr Tony Iju Nwabunike’s refusal to recognize the outcome of the
election that produced Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha is tantamount to
standing truth on its head.

“It is on record that Tony Iju Nwabunike became president after defeating Emenike Nwokeoji with only 3 votes which resulted in the so called manipulated victory. In the same vein, Alh Taiwo Mustapha defeated Henry Njoku with 3 votes in the Board of
Trustees election.

On this note, we hereby recognize Mr Emenike Nwokeoji as the
President of ANLCA.

” We hereby enjoin all members of the Western Zone to refrain from participating in any ANLCA activities called by Tony Iju Nwabunike-led NECOM.

“We shall resist any attempt to intimidate, harass, or coerce any
member in the Western Zone of ANLCA in furtherance of this directive”.
