COVID-19: NCDC Announces 381 New Cases, Increases Testing Centres
*Unveils guidelines for reopening offices, markets
The coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria as at Thursday night rose to 3,526 cases with 381 new cases being the highest number since the disease was first recorded in the country.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) also said 601 persons have so far been discharged while 107 people have died as a result the virus in 34 states.
A breakdown of the new cases showed that Lagos recorded 183 followed by Kano with 55, Jigawa – 44, Zamfra – 19, Borno -9, Bauchi – 19, Katsina -11, Kwara -8t, Kaduna -7, Gombe -6, Ogun -5, Sokoto -4, Oyo -3, Rivers -3, Niger -2, Akwa Ibom -1 Enugu -1, and Plateau-1.
To check the increasing cases, the NCDC Thursday unveiled guidelines for reopening of offices and markets for normal businesses.
The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu said offices and markets should ensure that any person with high temperature is not allowed into offices.
He also called for compulsory use of non-medical face masks for staff and traders at all times as well as physical distancing in offices and markets.
