WMN..German shipbuilder MV Werften has decided to stop production at its yards in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread in Europe.
On March 22, the three shipyards halted their current ship construction projects.
As informed, all business operations would be suspended for approximately four weeks.
According to MV Weften CEO, Peter Fetten, the company took the decision in order to protect its employees and their families from the coronavirus. Only with the business shutdown, the shipbuilder can meet the requirement of maintaining a necessary distance between workers.
What is more, MV Werften, along with a number of other companies, is facing restrictions in the operational processes as well as bottlenecks in external supply chains.
Last week, another shipbuilder in Germany, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) also ceased all operations and production due to COVID-19…reports World Maritime News.
