Customs to Hand Over Case of $8m Seized Cash to EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is to take over the case of $8,065,612m cash seizure at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for further investigation and prosecution.
The amount was seized January 16 from a driver who is currently being detained by the operatives of the Service.
Comptroller-General of the Service, Rtd Col. Hameed Ali disclosed this when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance Thursday.
He told the law makers that there were names written on the bundle of the dollar notes in Bagco bags, adding that this is being investigated.
Chairman of the committee, Mr James Faleke, who said the cash interception was like a loot kept by the former late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, commended the Customs for their effort.
