Nigeria Loses IMO Category C Seat Election to Kenya

It was a sad Friday for Nigeria at the International Maritime Organization(IMO) meeting in London when she lost the Category C seat election to Kenya.
Kenya beat Nigeria by 1 vote in what was indeed very narrow and annoying to Nigerian representatives and supporters at the election.
Nigeria polled 110 votes as against Kenya which polled 111 votes.
For the management of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA) and other stakeholders at the meeting, it was really sad considering the efforts and sacrifices made to win the election
This is about the third time Nigeria had lost the bid to win back her seat lost in 2009.

Nigeria won a seat in 2007, lost it in 2009. Efforts were made in 2011, 2017 and now 2019 but lost.
The 31st Assembly of IMO meeting holding in London started November 25 and ends December 4.

IMO is the apex world maritime regulatory agency on maritime issues.
