Customs Receives Approval to Begin Electronic Clearing
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the introduction of electronic clearing for imports and exports in the country.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Rtd Col. Hameed Ali on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of 40 officers from the Senior Course 3 session at the Customs Command and Staff College in Abuja.
Ali said with this development, clearing of goods will be faster, adding that it will further transform operations of Service at the ports.
He explained that with approval export and import processing will be paperless, including performance evaluation report which will not be written on paper any longer.
He said, “ you will fill it online and your superior will assess you online.”
The CG called on operatives on the field to be ready for training to be able to cope with the current clearing technology.
