Dakuku Inaugurates Ship Registry Implementation Committee
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Tuesday inaugurated an implementation Committee for the reform of the Nigerian Ship Registry.
The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside who had received the report of the Committee named Mr Emmanuel Ilori as the Chairman of the Implementation Committee.
Dakuku said the Committee had made very useful recommendations that cannot be swept under the carpet.
The NIMASA DG who was represented on the occasion by the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, Alhaji Gambo Ahmed promised to support the Committee to implement the recommendations.
He also called on the Committee to change the situation of the ship registry.
The DG said the Committee is expected to “review the recommendations of the committee and extract immediately, actionable items on short, medium and long term basis for the Executive management consideration and approval and to undertake any other task relating to the implementation of the Committee’s report as may be directed by the Executive management,”
Ilori in his response promised that his Committee will try its best to deliver on the assignment given to it.
