Customs Unbundles Old Area Commands, Creates Eight New Ones
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has created eight new Area Commands from existing ones.
In a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs (DCG), Finance, Administration and Technical Services (FATS), Aminu Dangaladima, new commands include
the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ogun II Area Command, North Eastern Marine Command, Kaduna Area Command, Kebbi Area Command, Kwara Area Command, North Western Marine Command and Port Harcourt Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Area Command.
The new commands were simply created by unbundling of the old commands in the areas to allow for more efficient operation.
The creation of the new commands followed approval given during the 50th Regular Meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service Board held in May this year.
According to the memo by Dangaladima on behalf of the Comptroller General of the Service, Rtd Col. Hammed Ali, the decision was part of the efforts to reorganize the Service.
