Buhari Mourns as Suicide Bombers Kill 30, Injure Scores in Borno
President Muhammadu Buhari Monday expressed shock over the death of 30 persons following a suicide bomb attack by members of the Boko Haram in Borno state.
Scores of others were injured following the bomb attack at a viewing centre in Mandarari, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Femi Adesina, the President Buhari decried the heinous acts.
He was quoted as saying that the “perpetrators of evil acts have judgment awaiting them, not only from man via the long arms of the law, but also from God Almighty.”
The attack was carried out by two females and one male at about 8pm on Sunday.
An official of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency in charge of Search and Rescue Operations, Mr. Usman Kachala, said 17 died instantly while others who died was as result of lack medical facility.
He told newsmen, “When I and my team arrived Konduga early this morning (Monday), the military prevented us from gaining access to the community to assist the victims. They told us they were given order from above not to open the road until 9 am.”
It was gathered that relatives of the victims had to make alternative arrangements to take their relations to hospital in Maiduguri.
