NNPC Engineers Repair Vandalized Pipeline at Ejigbo

The vandalized pipeline which caused panic among residents of Ejigbo and Idimu in Lagos have been repaired.
Engineers from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) came to the scene very early Thursday and completed the repair at about 12.30pm.
It was gathered that the vandalisation was carried out by hoodlums who were said to be in army uniform.
According to a source, this was why they were not challenged by residents who noticed what they were doing at odd hours.
It was further gathered that about four trucks were stolen from the pipeline between 12 midnight and 2pm when the hoodlums fled.
The broken pipeline was flowing with fuel in surrounding environment , spilling the environment and into a deep gutter connected to the canal.
Residents at Oboye Street where the incident occurred had immediately alerted the Police and Lagos State Fire Service which came to avert any disaster in the area.
Many residents in the area had abandoned their homes as early as 4 am to avoid being caught unaware by any possible fire outbreak.
Our Correspondent witnessed the flow of the fuel on the gutter down to the canal at Silva Estate, Idimu, all the way from Oboye Street where the pipeline was broken.
Residents heaved a sigh of relief Thursday on noticing the repair work completed.
They had also called on the NNPC to provide regular security to monitor activities on its pipeline to avoid vandalization.
