Boosting Regional Trade: NSC CEO, Akutah, Visits North-East, Holds Interactive Meeting with Stakeholders

In a move to boost regional trade, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC, Dr. Pius Akutah MON, has paid visits to the North East Zonal Directorate of the ports economic regulator, which is located in Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital.
Akutah was accompanied by key members of the management team in a familiarization tour of the North East.
The visit was aimed at promoting regional trade in shipping activities.
Specifically, the objective of the visit was to support non-oil exports, particularly agricultural and allied products in line with the current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s goal of diversifying the economy through the blue economy sector.
Akutah held an interactive meeting with stakeholders in a bid advance shipping activities in the region.
He stressed that the NSC plays a strategic role of promoting shippers’ interests for imports and exports, adding that Council also promotes the ease of doing business.
During the tour, he visited the Inland Dry Ports project site in Bauchi, which is an initiative of the Bauchi State Government, aimed at attracting both import and export activities to the area.
The visit was part of the steps to assess the activities of the ports economic regulator in the region as well as to reinforce its role in trade facilitation and port economic regulation.
