Customs to Acquire Two More Vessels for Anti-smuggling Operations

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is to acquire two more vessels for anti-smuggling operations.
The vessels are expected from Singapore, according to the Area Controller of the Western Marine Command, Comptroller Salefu.
Disclosing that the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has given his approval, Salefu also added that the two vessels that have remained idle in the Lagos marina will soon become operational.
The Controller disclosed that the Acting CG on assuming office has made provision of logistics a priority in the Service.
He disclosed that his Marine Command has been provided with 15 gun boats.
He however said that with the vessels being provided, his Command would be needing more technical personnel to be able to man them.
The Command seized foreign rice and thousands of packets of indian hemp.
