ANLCA Moves On with AGM, List of Participants to be Submitted to CRFFN

The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has concluded every arrangement to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 15, the Acting President, Dr. Kayode Farinto has said.
The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding IN Nigeria (CRFFN) chose the date and venue for the AGM, Farinto told newsmen on Monday.
However, the Acting President said that participants shall be those who are strictly licensed owners who hold the position of at least a Director of the company that they will be representing at the AGM.
He disclosed that he has already registered for participation in the AGM along with about 200 members of the association, and enjoined other members to come and register in the Association’s Secretariat to be able to attend the AGM.
He disclosed that the AGM is open to both factions of the association, referring to those who belong to Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha and his own group.
He added that the date of the AGM and venue were the choice of the CRFFN which is also sponsoring the event as the regulator.
He said, “To comply with the CRFFN letter addressed to me on 10th February, 2023. The National Secretary of ANLCA as usual kick – started the process of organizing the AGM as contained in the ANLCA Supreme Constitution (Any Version). But this time around the NECOM in its magnimity have to reduced the processes due to the current Economic situation in the country and in a bid to carry everybody along. For you to attend the 2023 AGM and any ANLCA AGM you most have a License or be a Director of a company Licensed by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and a Corporate member of ANLCA. And just pay a token of N10,000 being 2023 Annual Dues. While every other dues and conditions were waive. This was agreed to make sure nobody is left out.
“And as I speak with you over 200 of our members have registered for the 2023 AGM going through the normal process of verification and authentication of any Licensed presented and the position of the company representatives, which must be a Director level in such Company and the process has been going smoothly and is ongoing.
“I want to state here emphatically and to be on record that, anybody that wants to attend the 2023 ANLCA AGM must pass through the normal process as contained in the ANLCA Constitution, no matter your position in ANLCA. I have done mine and I expect others to do theirs too. Again, for the records too, the Data base of ANLCA members is domiciled in the National Secretary office and anybody that wants to attend the AGM must clear his/ herself in that office. I want to state that, anybody that somewhere to collate licenses without clearing from the National Secretary office to authenticate the genuineness or otherwise of such Licenses will not be accepted. ANLCA is a constituted Association, and we all agreed to follow our constitution and that is sacrosanct”.
The Acting President explained that the AGM has become necessary considering that the tenure of the present NECOM expires on April 16.
He added, “I know you are all aware that the tenure of this NECOM expires on 16th April 2023 as given to us by the amended 2020 ANLCA Constitution at the Owerri AGM. I want to tell u emphatically, that this NECOM will not stay one day extra in office. As such the process of conducting the 2023 NECOM Election will be part of the decisions taken at the 2023 AGM. For your information and in accordance with ANLCA Supreme Constitution, within 90 days to the expiration of any NECOM tenure, election must be held to bring in new leaders and the 90 days stated counting from February.
“ I want to state again here that NECOM Election is free to be contested by any member of ANLCA to the various positions as far as you are cleared by the Association Electoral Commission (ASECO), nobody can stop you ,if you are qualified and I employ members to dust their documents to contest in any positions of their choice, whenever the ASECO starts the election process”.
Farinto also appealed to members to “eschew all bitterness, envy and bickering, but work towards building a new ANLCA”.
He added :” As as our country Nigeria is moving towards a new dispensation, ANLCA should do same for the betterment of our profession and Industry.
“I want to also thank and appreciate the CRFFN and the Chairman of the Council for his purposeful leadership and for giving us the olive branch to settle our problems once and for all in ANLCA. I appeal to all ANLCA members, let’s grab this olive branch from the Council and make a lasting peace out of it.
“Finally, I want to appreciate all ANLCA members in both divides, and plead for us to join hands together to continuously build this ANLCA house and uphold its constitutional integrity for posterity sake.”
