Freight forwarders who have over the years been shunning national politics have been advised against this in their own interest.
Founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, said the only way to correct the wrong in Nigerian system, particularly as it affects the maritime sector was to struggle to be part of those in government.
Aniebonam who spoke in Lagos on the occasion of the
23rd Anniversary lecture organized by the NAGAFF in Lagos, said it was to be part of those in government that made him float the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) at the same time that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was also established.
He explained that the party serves as a platform for freight forwarders to champion their political interest.
He told freight forwarders that it was better to fight from inside than from outside, adding that he has always not been satisfied with what was going on in the ports, and wants to bring about changes.
He called on freight forwarders to give their support to the party in the 2023 election, adding that a victory for the party at the national level means a victory for freight forwarders.
Aniebonam also advised freight forwarders to always identify that for which they are good in, saying that he has created a platform for people to benefit from.
He described NNPP as a liberation party created by NAGAFF for the interest of freight forwarders.
He also pointed out that NAGAFF has gone ahead to establish an academy which according to him has remained critical to the training of freight forwarders.
