EFCC Begins Auction of Seized Vessels, Vehicles Today

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will today begin auction of ocean going vessels, cars and other items seized in different parts of the country.
In Lagos, the Commission said it will begin physical inspection of 15 ships and 438 other vehicles which were seized in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
Among the cars to be auctioned, according to an advert by the Commission include Mercedes Benz G-Wagon GLK, 4matic, ML and CLA models; BMW X6, 525i and other models; Range Rover and Land Rover SUVs; Porsche, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado, Lexus LX 570, RX 350.
The vehicles which are 649 in total are located in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and FCT, Abuja, Benin, Uyo, Enugu, Illorin, Kano and Sokoto states..
The advertorial added that 39 phones, 11 laptops and other devices seized from different individuals will also be sold.
The agency said in the advertorial that, “The auction is open to the general public throughout Nigeria for the duration of the bidding period, except staff of the commission and persons, groups or organisations against whom the forfeiture order was made.
“Asset viewing is free at the asset locations; assets will be sold ‘as is’ and ‘where is’ and no asset will be sold below the reserved price. A winning bid can only be equal or above the commission’s reserved price.”
The items were seized from individuals with court orders empowering the Commission to auction them
