How 2,000 Fraudulent Customs Officers Were Fired, by Hameed Ali
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) fired about 2,000 officers over fraudulent activities, the Comptroller General of the agency, Hameed Ali has disclosed
Ali made the revelation during a media briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team in Abuja on Thursday.
He said the sack was in the past seven years, apparently for the period he has been incharge of the Service.
Ali said that the Service was against corrupt practices, adding that some of the officers were also prosecuted and jailed.
He further said that officers who were affected were shortchanging the federal government in revenue drive in terms of imports duties collection.
Some importers who were found to have cheated government were also prosecuted, he said.
