President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday warned ministers, permanent secretaries, heads of agencies and other top government officials against abandoning their work for the purpose of electioneering activities for the 2023 election.
Buhari issued the warning as the Ministerial Performance Review Retreat came to an end in Abuja.
To ensure that ministers and other top government officials do not abandon their duties for campaign, the President said that “Any infraction will be viewed seriously.”
The President directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, to go ahead with the continuous assessment of ministries for the third and fourth quarters of 2022.
According to him, the report would be part of the transition documents to be handed over to the next administration.
He said, “The outcome of these reviews would be made available for my consideration”
“Consequently, all ministers, permanent secretaries, and heads of agencies must remain focused in the discharge of their duties, as any infraction will be viewed seriously.
“Our collective goal is to map out a transition plan for the incoming administration to ensure proper documentation of all the policies, programmes, and projects of government with up-to-date status of implementation.”
