Dredging of Calabar, Warri Ports Will Stop Flooding to Kogi, MWUN Tells FG

The President of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Adewale Adeyanju, weekend called on the federal government to pay priority attention to the dredging of Calabar, Warri and Port-Harcourt ports.
Adeyanju told the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, during a courtesy visit that this will go a long way in addressing issues of flooding to Kogi state.
He particularly said that the flooding which is ravaging the state in recent times will stop in the Lokoja axis with the dredging of the ports.
Sambo had during the visit described members of the Union as critical to the development of the maritime industry as well as the national economy.
The Minister while observing that he has short tenure in office added that he requires the support of the workers as well as their advice and guidance to enable him leave a robust legacy.
He said, “If we deliver on our promises before the end of this administration, we would have left some legacies for Nigerians. On the other hand, those we didn’t achieve will a foundation for others to build on.”
The Minister also said that he is part of the Union considering that he started his public service career with the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The MWUN President said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the Minister and discuss other issues.
