The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has called on exporters and other investors to take advantage of the organization’s specialized Export Processing Terminals (EPTs) created to revolutionize international trade in the country.
Dantsoho explained that this will assist exporters and investors to overcome most of the complexities they often face in the process of exporting Nigerian goods.
Speaking on the occasion of NPA’s ‘Special Day’ at the Kaduna International Trade Fair, he identified the organization;s innovative solutions which according to him were designed to streamline exports and boost the country’s competitiveness on the international stage.
He said that the organization was ready to collaborate with those interested in taking export trade to higher level, adding that the doors of the NPA remain open for this..
According to him, “The doors of the NPA are always open to new partnerships and ideas”.
He stated that the Business Ddevelopment team of the agency was ready to engage those interested in export trade to take advantage of NPA’s real-time interactive online portal.
Dantsoho said that it was in a move to boost Nigeria’s domestic economy and balance international trade that led to all the efforts to improve on exports.
He described the conception of the EPTs as a game-changer for Nigeria’s export landscape.
He further explained that the terminals were specifically established to ease the burden experienced in the process of exporting Nigerian goods.
He added that this has addressed the issue of so much paperwork and delays to a such a situation of seamless and efficient experience.
“The EPTs were conceptualized as a one-stop solution for everything from cargo consolidation, packaging, and documentation, to certification and swift shipment via electronic call-up systems.
“This eliminates the bureaucratic red tape that once made Nigerian exports uncompetitive on the world stage.”, he said.
He added that the EPTS have not just simplified the export process but equally supported the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in such a way that they are linked with Domestic Export Warehouses (DEWs), in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and other key partners.
Dantsoho pointed out that the theme of the Kaduna Trade fair which is “Promoting Efficiency in Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Trade through Digital Transformation” was in line with NPA’s efforts to promote efficiency at the ports.
According to him, this was a clear commitment to digitalization and automating trade processes.
