The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) have pledged collaboration to promote ports efficiency in the country.
This was when the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, visited the NPA headquarters in Lagos.
Adeniyi had during the visit stressed the need for synergy between the Customs and the NPA in ensuring efficiency and competitiveness in the ports.
The CGC who visited the NPA last week Thursday, was quoted saying,
“If we get it right in our ports, we will get it right in the Service. We have a number of initiatives that we are pursuing, and we need the critical buy-in of a stakeholder like the NPA for those initiatives to
succeed.”
Noting established collaboration between the Customs Service and the NPA, and the good result at the export processing terminal, Adeniyi expressed hope to have the same thing in the Eastern ports, adding that this can promote export activities.
He assured that the Customs Service was eager to synergize with the NPA in a bid to promote competitiveness in Nigerian ports.
The Managing Director of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, in his response said the organization is ever ready to give the Customs every support, adding that together the two agencies can move Nigerian ports forward.
Dantsoho was quoted saying, “we are here for you, and we will give you all the necessary support. Together, we can move both agencies forward and help Nigeria become a better country.”
