FG, Labour to Reach Agreement Today as Edun Presents Cost Implication of Proposed Minimum Wage
An agreement is expected to be arrived at today following the submission of the cost implication of a new minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu on Thursday.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, submitted the report to the President who had directed him to do so to guide in arriving at a new minimum wage during negotiation with the labour leaders.
With the submission, it is expected that a tripartite panel made up of government officials, labour and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) will be meeting today.
Labour leaders are demanding for N494,000 from N30,000, but government had offered N60,000 as at Tuesday.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) had suspended its strike for the government to decide on the new minimum wage after the intervention of the President.
