Suicide: Police Digs Into Cause of Customs Officer’s Death in Kano

The Nigeria Police Force has swung into investigation on the cause of the death of a senior customs officer in Kano.
The officer, CSC Abdullahi Abdulwahab Magaji, who served in Abuja, was reported to have committed suicide when he shot himself with a pump action gun.
In a statement on Monday, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Command, Nigeria Police Force, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Police Force in Kano has begun full scale investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of the customs officer.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, ordered the investigation.
The customs officer, was said to have committed suicide on May 6 at about 12pm. The Police said the Crime-scene Police Team was led by the Farm Centre Division Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Ibrahim Abubakar.
The statement added that the feedback from the team made the Commissioner to order for full investigation.
The family of the deceased had raised alarm that he had shot himself with a rifle which was why the Police visited the scene.
The deceased was rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where medical doctors pronounced him dead.
