NPA Receives Largest Container Vessel at Lekki Deep Seaport

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) weekend received one of the largest container vessels at the Lekki Deep Seaport.
The vessel, MAERSK EDIRNE, measures 367m in length with a breadth of 48.2m, arrived the seaport on Sunday.
The vessel has a Gross Registered Tonnage GRT of 142,131metric tonnes and a Dead Weight Tonnage DWT of 147,340 metric tonnes which constitute of 3,376 metric tonnes total cargo onboard.
The vessel was navigated to safety by experienced and thoroughly equipped Pilots of the NPA.
The Managing Director of the NPA, Mr. Mohammed Bello- Koko during had promised to deliver on the statutory obligations of the authority during the signing of the Presidential / Ministerial Performance Bond with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola in December 2023.
Bello Koko had said, “the Authority under my watch is poised to providing the leadership and technical guidance required to maximise the potential inherent in our marine and blue economy.”
Bello Koko had while receiving the vessel on Sunday commended the Minister for his support and and endorsement of the agency’s initiatives and investments in employee upskilling and equipment renewal.
According to the Managing Director, the support has made this milestone of the agency seamlessly achievable.
The authority had in the past also received the largest commercial vessels in the country “MV Stadelhorn” and “MSC Maureen” at Onne Port and Tin Can Island Port Complex .
