We’re Targeting Innovations, Progress in Global Trade, Says Shippers’ Council Boss

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Barrister Pius Ukeyima Akutah, has said that the target of the ports economic regulator is in innovations that will promote global trade.
Akutah said that already the Council is deep into championing progress on the dynamic waters of global trade.
The NSC CEO who spoke at a special management retreat organised by the Council in Lagos, with the theme, “Strengthening the Economic Regulation of the Marine and Blue Economy for Sustainable Development”, said the ports economic regulator was determined to ensure that it promotes trade facilitation in Nigeria in line with what happens in global arena.
He said that the retreat was an opportunity to achieve what would be of profound significance for the future of nation’s economy.
According to him, the focus of the Council’s focus on economic regulation underscores a profound understanding, adding that “effective governance , equitable practices and strategic policies, serve as the bedrock for fostering a thriving blue economy”.
He described the retreat was a strategic “convergence of wisdom, expertise and foresight”.
He described the retreat as a testament to the Council’s unwavering commitment in trying to shape a future where the Marine and Blue Economy, remains a beacon of sustainable development and prosperity.
He recalled that the recent retreat between the heads of maritime agencies and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy underscored the Council’s commitment to “unwavering dedication to accountability, efficiency, and delivering results that exceed expectations”.
He stressed that such commitment should continue to solidify the Council’s “resolve to serve with utmost efficiency and effectiveness”.
Akutah said it was incumbent that the Council continues to align its Key Performance Indicators to that of the Ministry, “as contained in the performance Bond signed with the Minister”.
He disclosed that this will form the basis for measuring its performance as an organization.
He urged the management and personnel of the agency to work assiduously to take the Council to an enviable height.
He also urged the personnel to continue in the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in the interest of the organization as a regulator and national economy.
