Police, NAGAFF Settle Feud at Ports

The feud between members of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) may have been settled amicably.
Both have been daggers drawn over allegation from the Maritime Police that NAGAFF members were involved in the clearance of containers of toxic ponmo and bulletproof doors.
The Police had alleged that toxic ponmo and bulletproof doors were cleared by NAGGAFF members without proper paper documents.
But in swift reaction, NAGGAFF issued a statement describing the allegation as a lie and asking the Police to prove the allegation.
The National Secretary of NAGGAFF,Fwdr. Igwe Kingsley said every investigation by the Headquarters of the association has shown that the allegation was not true.
SHIPPING DAY however gathered that the President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi had on Tuesday led a delegation of his executive to visit the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, AIG Susan U. Akem-Horsfall where the face-off between the two featured prominently.
Sources said Mrs Akem-Horsfall was not available but the NAGAFF officials held discussions with the Commissioner of Police, Maritime, Mr Emmanuel Ade Aina.
It was gathered that the issue between the two was discussed and settled.
Sources said both NAGAFF has maintained a good relationship with the Police but for a particular officer in the system who is being accused of causing the disaffection.
