MMIA Customs Seizes N1.2bn Dried Donkey Genitals, Shark Fins, Generates N47bn Revenue

The Murtala Muhammad Air Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a seizure of dried donkey genitals worth N1.01bn.
The Command also said it recorded revenue of N47bn between January and July, 2023.
The Controller, Comptroller Muhammed Sanni Yusuf who briefed newsmen on Thursday said other items seized were 6 packages of suspected dried shark fins with FOB Value of N221m.
He added that the dried donkey genitals were in 25 packages.
He put the total worth of the seizures at N1.2bn, adding that the items were intended for export.
He also said the suspects in connection with seizures have been arrested and investigation ongoing.
4. He added, “These items were seized mainly because of various forms of infractions on Export guidelines and failure to comply with CITES Law on endangered species as enshrined in the Nigeria Customs Service Act”
On revenue, he said, the Command recorded
₦47.2bn which represents 83.24% of target met.
“When compared to the same period in 2022 of ₦40,335,607,654.90 a progressive difference of ₦6,914,177,365.55k) representing 17.14% increase”, he said.
