Freight Forwarders Congratulate, Eulogize Hassan Bello on Conferment of National Honour

Freight forwarders have reacted to the national honour conferred on the former Executive Secretary, Dr. Hassan Bello, describing it as well deserved considering his contributions to the development of the maritime industry.
Bello was among the 340 Nigerians conferred with special honours award by the former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bello was conferred with the award of the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON).
Former President of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu while congratulating Bello for the honour described him as a super administrator.
Shittu said that Bello fought corruption in the ports despite efforts by vested interests to resist him and his Council as the ports economic regulator.
Shittu added that considering what Bello’s numerous achievements while in office, he hoped that the present administration of President Bola Tinubu will find him useful so that he continues to contribute for the development of the transport industry.
Former President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Eugene Nweke who congratulated Bello said achieved so much for the maritime sector.
For instance, Nweke said “Hassan Bello is the reason why maritime industry related cases are easily tried and receive accelerated hearing and judgement”
He rolled out Bello’s achievements as follow:
“He consistently and systematically sensitised the judges on maritime industry administration and International conventions and interpretation thereof via the Annual Seminar For the Maritime Judges.
“ In a tacit manner, Bello supported, promoted and sensitised the industry practitioners on the place of the Admiralty laws in the industry while encouraging the regime of Alternative Dispute resolution in the maritime industry.

“Bello took the industry Economic Regulatory role to the next levels, daring and stepping on the toes of the so called untouchable monopolist.

“ Bello sustained the culture of proactive and intellectual work force in the Council, hence, making the NSC as the resourceful data hub for the maritime industry.

“The NCS under Bello saved the nation billions of naira, earlier locally earned by shipping lines and terminal operators which they repatriated outside their respective mother country.

“ Bello is an foremost Service Performance and trade facilitation advocate.

“ Bello has an outstanding notary for stakeholders engagements, thereby making him and the NSC the industry bridge builder or a go in between.

“Under Bello, maritime industrial actions , that usually lead to the closure of the ports are amicably resolved.

“ At the global hit of the COVID 19 Lockdown, Bello was instrumental at ensuring that the Nigerian ports were functional 24/7.

“Bello believes more in capacity building not just for the staffs of the NSC but for all strata of industry Interests.

“Bello is the salient voice behind the unification of the Union of African Shippers. And the reawakening voice to Shippers Councils within the West end Central African countries.

“Bello gave the inland container Depot a higher definition, hence, the adoption of the Dry Ports concept.

“Bello was highly instrumental towards the mobilisation of states chamber of commerce across the federation for active participation.

“Bello and the Shippers Council have influenced Industry policies via legislative and executive arms.

“Bello is indeed a silent motivator and encourager of professionals.

“Look the list of achievements is endless, if one will go into the archives.
